24 Sep How to create a sanctuary of your own
Master bedrooms are such an important space in the home, they are the place where you can unwind at the end of a hectic day. Do you feel a sense of peace in your room? Is it a place where you can go and just let the stress of the day melt away? If not we have some tips to help make your room and sacred haven for you.
When considering how to decorate your bedroom, think about the theme of the rest of your home. You want to create continuity throughout so if your home is minimalistic, carry that theme through to your bedroom.
There are alot of things that can be taken into account when decorating such as colour, storage, lighting & furnishings but we’ll just cover a few key points. Add a rug underneath your bed, not only is it functional (keep your feet warm on those cold winter mornings) but it can soften the room by breaking up the cold hard flooring. Chunky and natural toned linens are in at the moment. Think bohemian vibes with chunky knit throws, earthy tones and lots of texture. They created a warm inviting feel and are easy to add a pop of colour to with a cushion!
Have a look at the lighting in your bedroom. Do you have a harsh overhead light? Soften up the space by adding a floor lamp or bedside table lamp. Not only is it a great way to inject some style into the room, but create a much softer light to relax and read by at night.
Think about the colours you love and that make you happy, incorporate these into your room. People tend to forget about artwork in the bedroom, but a beautiful piece of art can add so much character and colour to the space. Work with the colours in the art and follow that theme throughout with cushions, throws or rugs – it’ll really tie the whole space together.
Not sure how to decorate the space? Keep it simple, just stick to neutral tones and most importantly keep it tidy. There’s nothing more satisfying than coming home to a freshly made bed. You’ll thank yourself at night for putting away your clothes and tucking those sheets in.
